Scenic Rim on a platter at Winter Harvest Festival

Eat your way around the Scenic Rim at Eat Local Week’s signature event, the Winter Harvest Festival on  Saturday, July 1.

The authentic festival of food and farming will be the biggest yet, with cooking demonstrations, live music, free children’s rides and more than 60 stalls selling a range of Scenic Rim fresh produce, baked good, relishes, olives, cheese, meat, hot food, wine and craft beer.

The popular Kalbar and District Community Bank Tractor Pulling Competition returns and a strong field of teams have signed up for the chance to win a share of $4000 for their community club or sporting team.

A highlight of the day will be the cooking demonstrations by Eat Local Week regional food ambassadors Brenda Fawdon and Glen Barrett.

Local wines and craft beers will be served from a licensed area and the Scenic Rim Bloody Mary will be for sale too, featuring the Flinders Peak-Kalfresh Vegetables Carrot Vodka collaboration. Try the Scenic Rim Brewery craft beers and Scenic Rim wines from Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard, O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards, Barney Creek Vineyard, Normanby Wines, and Welgan Estate Wines.

More than 60 Scenic Rim farmers, producers, chefs and wine and beer makers will sell their wares throughout the day, including Greenlee Farm, Scenic Rim Olives, Butcher Co Aratula, Arthur Clive’s Family Bakehouse, Pamela’s Kitchen,  Scenic Rim Lavender, Freshwater Australian Crayfish, Dewar Honey, together with Peak Veggie Patch and Valley Pride Produce selling a mega showcase of fresh, local produce.

Event sponsors Kalfresh Vegetables and Just Veg. will have a stall selling a range of fresh local Scenic Rim vegetables.

Try the camel milk ice-cream, the goat’s milk gelato and fill your water bottle from the Queensland Urban Utilities hydration station.

There will be plenty of hot food available, including hand cut chips featuring Scenic Rim potatoes and made by the Boonah Lions Club

There’s plenty to keep the kids amused, including free rides all day! The Bandoliers will provide live music all day.

Tickets are $10 for adults and children under 12 are free. The first 500 adults through the gate will receive a free Harvest Bag. Buy your tickets online or at the gate.

The Winter Harvest Festival is an all-weather event. BYO appetite and Esky!
