Narelle West is the wife of a vegetable farmer and she’s a keen cook.
She takes the raw ingredients she and husband Kent grow on their farm and value-adding. With the help of local chef Jennifer Beadnell, Narelle has produced a range of natural, preservative-free relishes under the Kent’s Produce Label.
She says they’re an ideal accompaniment to meals, vegetables and salads.
“I had been working on this for about two years before we launched,” says Narelle.
“It’s about value-adding our staple products. Beetroot was the first vegetable I focused on, just because so many people don’t know how to cook it. I wanted to provide something interesting that was healthy and retained the nutritional benefits. A lot of cheaper relishes use fillings. I wanted people to taste food that is high quality and good for them.”
