15 delicious Eat Local holiday events you shouldn’t miss!

Do you want to get your children outside and off the gadgets?
Grab your gumboots, jump in the car and head for the Scenic Rim for some school holiday food and farm fun!
From June 30 to July 8, during the first week of the Queensland June-July school holidays,  the region will host Scenic Rim Eat Local Week.
As the name suggests it’s a week of eating local food, visiting farms, cuddling gorgeous animals, picking carrots and meeting the farmers.

Now in its 8th year, this annual event has grown to feature more than 90 individual activities, including 36 which are FREE, or cost less than $25!

“Scenic Rim Eat Local Week started as a way to connect consumers with the people who grow their food and that principle remains at the heart of the event today,” explains Scenic Rim Mayor Cr Greg Christensen.

“This is a delicious way to tour our spectacular region and have real and engaging experiences with the men and women who produce our food.

“Visit a dairy farm, pet the heritage pigs, take a class in sheep’s cheesemaking, taste the food, pick your own carrots, visit a camel dairy, and sit in tractors!”

The Scenic Rim is a lush and fertile region which borders the Gold Coast and takes in Tamborine Mountain, Canungra, Beaudesert, and Boonah.
